Weymouth Christmas Sparkle!


It’s all happening in Weymouth Town Centre on 9th December folks!
Plans for “Weymouth Christmas Sparkle”, a Christmas Shopping and entertainment evening, WEYMOUTH’S CHRISTMAS PARTY, are in place. The event will take place on Thursday, December 9th, 2010, with stalls opening at about 3pm, and a fun packed evening of entertainment, based around a stage in New Bond Street, kicking off at around 4pm.  A main attraction in New Bond Street will be “Waterwalkerz”, a 2 metre high human hamster ball on water !


From 4pm the borough council are opening up their town centre car parks for FREE! The county council are also opening Boot Hill, so no excuses for not being there!


The event will have a mostly traditional Christmas theme, with hog roast and donuts, and with stalls selling Christmas fayre and other goodies. We want to encourage everybody, especially the children, to wear Christmas fancy dress in true Weymouth tradition.
The main attraction of the evening the winners of an “X-MAS Factor” talent competition, which will be held at the Pavilion’s Ocean Room on 25th November, £3 for adults, £2 for children to watch many soloist local singers who will be competing to win a recording session and other great prizes. There will also be various other singing and dancing performed by local people and groups on Sparkle Night.  There will  also be a children’s lantern parade for the evening, starting in the town centre and making its way across the town bridge to Hope Square. Lanterns will be for sale in town, so bring your children along to join the parade with Santa.

Weymouth World Sailing Speed Week

The world famous Weymouth Speed week held on Portland Harbour the birthplace of speed sailing is looming up fast. This event encompasses the UKWA British Speed Championships for UKWA member sailors and also counts for ISWC world cup points for the world tour.


Starting on the 16th and finishing on the 22nd of October it is a very popular event with young and old, 1st timers to hardened old hands from back in the day It is the oldest running speed event on the planet and ask anyone who has been they will tell you the mix of fun, good competition and social crack makes people come back year after year.

End of the Season!

The seaside holiday resort of Weymouth is closing down for the season. Soon the Punch & Judy hut will be removed from the beach before the Autumnal wind and waves arrive! yippee!!!!

Mind you Harley & Sam are enjoying the lovely weather at moment - no sign of a swell though!

Tiny Visitor Of The Month!

From time to time, we get asked if "little guests" are allowed into the store if they promise to be on their best behaviour. I usually let them in provided that they hang out in the sofa area and don't touch the stock, pee on the floor, eat children etc.

Today we had a visit from a tiny woofer called Gucci. He was sort of a handbag-sized dog, hence the name.

We took care of Gucci while his owners made use of our fitting rooms; I've never met such a well behaved dog! (Although in hindsight, he may have just been terrified.)

In honour of his exemplary behaviour and general "awwww"-ness, we proudly congratulate Gucci on being our first "Tiny Visitor Of The Month"!

Gul Weymouth featured in The Dorset Echo

Weymouth Gul represent! Sally, Jenna and I were featured in Weymouth's local paper The Dorset Echo. Guest appearance on the right and all-round goliath (compared to our pint-sized crew) is store manager James from Gul Truro.

What's that? Yes, Sally and Jenna were both rocking the same Gul Tiramisu longsleeve shirt. That's makes it twice as cool (I think).
